A Sense of Community
The Community Harvest Garden is not only a place where plants thrive, but also community.
My name is Maira P. and I am an 8th grader and on the path to earn my silver award for Girl Scouts. In January, I contacted numerous gardens asking for any volunteer duties that I can take part in. Soon, I got a reply from Deb B. We met at the garden for the first time in early February. From the moment I stepped into the garden, it wasn’t like anything I had imagined. All of the plots were filled with beautiful plants and an amazing sense of care. I knew that this garden would teach me so many new things, and I knew that I would look extremely forward to it.
The people in this garden have taught me so many things this past year. From the socials to the Saturday harvests, this garden brings me joy. These people have helped this garden thrive and grow into an amazing place where people come together to share and experience the beauty of nature and community. I have only been with the garden for a few months, and I am proud to say that I am an enthusiastic gardener, but even prouder to say that I am a member of the Community Harvest Garden. I am thankful to be part of the garden and so happy to be involved in such an amazing experience.
